Here is a linux client for M$ Exchange servers. Would it be possible to port/recompile this app for OSX? Even if it ran in xWindows, it would be better that the abomination M$ is forcing Mac users to use...Outlook2001.

Egad we need this. If we leave it up to Microsoft we'll wait till q2 of 2003 before we have a decent exchange client.

    A glimmer of hope?

I posted the same topic on macnn and was told to wait for Jag. Ive heard the rumors of Exch support in Jag also, but no details have come out.

Does anyone know what level of exchange integration will exist in Jag? Will it use the exch calendar?

All I know is that my company can't move a single desktop Mac to OS X until we get a Exchange client. Thus I have 50+ Macs sitting in the vacuum of OS 9.2.

I use my work's (a University) Exchange server every day from my office and from home with Entourage. Before that I used mail.app. Before that I used Outlook express. It works. No calendaring, but sending and receiving e-mail is fine. My IT people swore to me I couldn't do it, but I just entered exchange.xxxxxx.edu into my account, and everything works fine.

Some companies need you to have full access to public folder and meeting requests not to mention the global address list (I would die without that). And would it kill Microsoft for form support in the Mac version? Not even 2001 has it. Sheesh. You can get by with installing Outlook 2001 while in OS X (not from OS 9 boot). Remember to check the TCP/IP settings in Classic TCP/IP control panel and add your dns there too. Classic doesn't take kindly to Outlook if you don't do that.

I think that is just IMAP based mail server, which Mail.app supports. So global mail lists are i fine. I get them from exchange in Pine... Show you shouldn't have a problem with that one at all.
