Safari settings affect ability to post here

I have my Safari set with the box "Open safe files after dowload" UNCHECKED. This is the first time I've visited the AI forums since I made the security change. I've discovered I have to log in every time I try to post on this site. I thought that setting just affected downloadable/executable files like movies, audio, etc.

I'm running Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6) on a Ibook running 10.3.9 with hte penultimate updates. Anyone esle notice this kind of anomaly? It's annoying.

PS Ok, now In unchecked the box. Let's see if I can post without another sign-in request. If I can't I'll do another PS. If I can I'm really stumped, and assumning AI has had some tech issues today.

Automatic login has to do with cookies, and as you say should not be affected by the "download safe files" checkbox.

Have a look at your cookies setting in Preferences->Security. If cookies are checked, open the cookies window and look for the cookies for

    .appleinsider.com

    and

    forums.appleinsider.com

you could delete them all and log in again to see if any are corrupted.
