Hey all,

I think I decided to go with the low end 1.8ghz white macbook without the superdrive. That way, I can use the money I saved to add 2 gigs of ram...since from what I gather...the integrated graphics of the macbook uses ram instead of a dedicated gpu.

I was going to wait for the 965 integrated graphics chip to be used in the macbook. From what I read, its next generation and a huge leap forward for integrated graphics. But I dont know when or even IF it will be used in a macbook.

My other reservation was heat and battery life. I hear conflicting stories on which gets hotter, the macbook or macbook Pro. And have also heard conflicting stories about which has better battery life.

Anyone care to share? I amvery close to pulling the trigger and buying.

Thanks

Dunno which voices say anything to the contrary, but in my experience, the MBP gets hotter (much!) than the MB and also definitely has less battery life. If you want a cooler and longer running notebook, get the MacBook. It's not as cool as the old iBooks under heavy load, but that's mainly the case when you do heavy stuff and are connected to external power. When on battery and doing light work, the MacBook doesn't get hot.

Thanks Fryke. Thats what I thought.

What are your thoughts on the integrated graphics of the macbook. Have you heard about the upcoming 965(?) integrated graphics chip from intel? Do you think it will be used in the macbooks(if/when) or do you think Apple will add a dedicated gpu in the next macbook(or as an option).

Sorry about all the questions. :-)
