So... the opening match of the World Cup is tonight. I've got a front-row seat at a local Japense restaurant with a 68" plasma (or something like that).
Kick-off is midnight my time.
So... where are you watching, not just this game, but the Cup games in general?
Comments
Then I'm back in Canada for July, so will have to watch at some absurd hour of the morning, probably from home if no decent places to watch socially are open.
Perhaps via web proxy and BBC streaming if I can't get teevee coverage at those hours.
Actually there ought to be a thread titled "The Beginner's (Americans) Guide to the World Cup."

There is (it's a few topics down).
There's no better way to get into something than to bet on it. I'd also recommend going to soccernet.com and just checking things out.
Germany is up 2-1 at half-time. One of Japan's key players may be out of the cup due to an injury in a game with Germany last week (a nasty foul that was not called), so a lot of people here hope Germany loses.

Germany won 4:2
Hey Bergermeister calm down. It is not entirely
bullet-proof if it was a foul indeed, so you better don't proclaim
such things. Anyway i am all for Takahara who is going
to play in Frankfurt next saison. This is great news for
Frankfurt. Btw, have you been in Germany yet? Great Country.
Great People. Btw, your Nickname sounds a bit german.
Vox, I am calm, because I know that Japan can beat Germany if they stay focused!! I just was sharing a view I was hearing late last night about the game; there were some rather upset people down at the local think tank, er, bar.
The major problem with the matches are the schedule. Germany-Costa Rica came on at 1one in the morning, which is fine on a weekend, but my productivity is certainly going to dip over the next couple of weeks as I watch some of the weekday matches. Perhaps I should just take the month off.
