Moving MacBookPro when sleeping

This is my first laptop and I'm curious if it's OK to transport my MacBook while it is in sleep mode. Mostly talking about putting it in a car trunk and driving or carrying it on it's side, like a book. In sleep mode, is the hard drive parked just like when its shut down? Thanks.

It's perfectly safe to do so. I've done it for years without a problem.

I just close the screen and carry it around in my laptop bag with no problems.

I move my Powerbook when it's on sleep, so yeh it's perfectly fine. I've even dropped it a few times whilst its been on sleep, so yeh, its pretty resilient.

No but now he makes an angry buzzing noise whenever I tilt him, think he still remembers the incident!
