Need a basic application to capure sound from Mic

I suspect there is something native in OSX to do this, but I am looking for a program that will allow me to caputure short audio clips from a microphone I have plugged into the mic jac on my MacBook.



I'm guessing GarageBand can do this, but it's like about a billion times more complicated than I need.



Anyone know of a freeware, or built-in application to do this?

QuickTime Pro has this ability. It's easy to use, but it costs $19 (i think) though. Worth it if you will be recording lots, or doing any editing, QT Pro is a fantastic little sound/movie editor.
