Hello all -

Im still a noob to macs - as this is our first. I recently hooked up our printer to our new 17" iMac. It prints fine, but why can I not change the settings for the printer - as in the quality of the print or make it print only in black and white.....

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

What brand & model is the printer? Did you install the manufacturer supplied drivers? (Check their website for updated OSX driver, perhaps.)

I have done all of that. It is a Lexmark Z53.

I was thinking maybe I am missing something as to WHERE those settings are?!

On my HP Photosmart 2710 when you go to Print where it says Copies & Pages in that combo box I have a Paper Type/Quality where I can chose the grayscale and draft etc..... that is where all your options are.

That's where it is in my HP printer also.

Use Spotlight to search for "Lexmark" first. It probably won't find anything. Then go check the Lexmark website for drivers.

Also check the CUPS site http://cups.org/ - they have a bajillion printer drivers.

Are you sure you do not have the Paper Type/Quality option?

When I download that - I then click the file Lexmark Z53 installer which then brings up a dialog box saying to click open print center and at the bottom says quit or continue. If I click open print center nothing happens, and the continue button is always greyed out....

    Hrmph...
