To buy now or wait for school to start?

I have a niece that will be starting at Georgia Tech this fall. She has decided on an iMac 20". Her question to me was if I thought there was going to be an update before the middle of August. Current models are shipping within 24 hours. The current iMac came out Jan. 10th. Any guess when the next speed bump will be?

    There'll probably be one in September or October. August might be a little early.

    I told her to wait till after WWDC to see if anything comes out then. That will still give her 2 weeks before school starts.

    I will also be starting at Georgia Tech this fall and I'm planning on getting a MacBook Pro. The best thing to do, like everyone else has said, is to wait until after at least the first day of the WWDC to see if anything is announced, which is also what I plan to do. There should be enough time to order an iMac and have it shipped and delivered before Tech starts on August 21st.
