Is it just me or does Preview suck?

Whenever I use Preview, my computer always slows WAY down, even if there's only one small image open. And Preview seems to like to open all my images at, say, 23% of their original size and then not resize them so they're the correct size. Anyone else having this problem? I just changed it so that all PDF files are opened by Acrobat Reader and all images are opened by Graphic Converter.

It's just you. It works fine for me. ::shrugs::

No, it's Preview. I also think it's pretty weak.

No zoom buttons (or any non-menu controls). No control over file size/quality on PDFs. I have to suspect that crippling this app was part of Apple's arrangement with Adobe to license the PDF engine--just to preserve a market for Acrobat.

On the other hand, it is free. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Wow, that looks a lot better than the current preview. Maybe with 10.2 I'll actually use Preview instead of using Acrobat Reader for opening PDF.

Preview from jaguar looks great, but I don't have any problems with the current Preview.

I can't wait for the new Preview! Right now I'm using Acrobat Reader and Graphic Converter for all my PDFs and JPGs. Somehow, both of those programs seem to use less processor power than Preview... maybe it's just my slow machine.

Thanks for the heads-up on Preview 2.0, Jonathan. (BTW, where are you spending the summer?)

As it is now, I avoid Preview (1.0) like the plague. But it's still the only free way to print to a PDF from any app. And that's the only function I use it for.

Eh, preview is ok, nothing special, but the version that comes with jaguar is going to rock!

Apple is really on the ball....OS X is finally taking form and coming into its own. I can't wait to see what Apple does AFTER Jaguar!
