It was bound to happen
Ok the hard drive my 12" iBook G4 1.33 is now officially full to the brim with music. In the year that I've owned it I've erased as much stuff that I don't need (i.e. Nanosaur 2, old docs, etc.). I'm guessing that an external hard drive is the only real option here, so I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions about ones to use for storage of music, pictures, etc. I'd like to find one at a decent price, as it would be for just bulk storage, and thus transfer rates wouldn't come into play too badly.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure that USB disks can be booted from, though, so beware about that.

Or if you don't have a problem not carrying all your data on your machine you could always use the external drive to store stuff you don't always need at your finger tips. Alot of small external 2.5" drives are very portable and can be powered directly off the USB cable itself, so there is no need to plug it into the wall. Making it easy for on-the-road access. But that will drain your laptop battery faster and it's not quite as portable as just having a larger drive in your machine itself.
What is the best (preferably free) program to do this? Is there one that will back up all the data and system files like bookmarks, keychain, etc.? Has this been asked 1,000 times before and I'm just not reading through the posts?
OK, for simplicity's sake I just got myself a new external hard drive. Seeing as how it's capacity is so much greater than what I need (for now) I figure I'll use it to back up my whole system, rather than just music and pictures.

I had an 80GB drive installed in my mid-2004 iBook for the cost of an hour's labour (and the drive, obviously). Well worth the expense given that I wasn't about to destroy my iBook for the sake of saving a few $$$.
Yeah, the backup topic has come up a million times over... I use SuperDuper. It's not free, but not expensive (around $20 IIRC).
