Use iPod Dock + Apple Remote To Control Front Row?

Simple question:

I have an iPod dock with IR sensor.

I have an Apple Remote.

I have an older Mac with Frontrow installed.

Is there a way to use the iPod dock as the IR receiver with FR? If not, can I use one a 3rd party remote to make FR run?

I ask because this machine is going to become, in the near future, my media machine and television.

I dont think that the cable that hooks into the back of your apple uni. dock even knows there is a an IR receiver, I think it splits off the ipod plug into two (the IR and the Power/Computer Connector)

i personally use salling clicker and my bluetooth phone to control frontrow on an old ibook g4.

so, yes... 3rd party options do exist.

keyspan makes a remote that would probably work.

    google around.

Thanks, folks. That seems to be the consensus.... Looks like I'll either put my old T610 to service or pick up the Keyspan, which Amazon has for $30
