And finally realised if they want to keep getting paid, they better embrace the digital music download services. Losers.

Metallic and AC DC are all garbage from the same bin.

Just like Shakira and Britney Spears.

I don't recall Metallica suing fans -- just Napster. This was bound to happen, one way or another. Besides that, I don't see how Metallica would be compelled financially to put their catalogs online, since they all have more than 100M in the bank -- it was most likely a decision made by their label -- but with that said I never detected a grudge against rightful (i.e. paid) online music transactions.

At the end of the day, most fans already have all of Metallica's albums, and they haven't produced a compelling one in ten years. Was this a financially motivated decision on the part of the band mates? Probably not.

As for the twirp who says Metallica is rubbish, as metal goes their albums from the 80's are fucking incredible.

    My point exactly.

I didn't insult you, just because you like music that,in my opinion, is garbage.

Please bear that in mind before insulting people.

    Lots of stuff.

My preference would have to go to straight-ahead jazz guitar, like

    Pat Martino

    Jimmy Bruno

    Grant Green

    Joe Pass....

and lots more... Some of it already in iTunes but there a LOT of excellent music being done by talented people who unfortunately dont have a pair of tits and a nice looking ass to shake about ( like Shakiras )...

Too true, to quote a song from the 80's, Video killed the radio star.

I cant stand pop, mostly because it isnt tallent, it is either a bunch of 2-bit white-trash strippers or black "gangstas" pretending to be a "bad ass". In both cases, the "music" is the result of hundreds of filters, hours of tweaking, tricks, and shinanagins, what you hear is a product of Protools or Logic. By the time it gets to the end product, there is so little of the original "artist" left that it borders on false advertising to claim that it is a result of them.

The same thing is going on in rock, metal and country too.

I listen to many genres of music. That being, I've listened to Metallica for years, and have all their albums. As for as Metallica the metal band goes, Kill 'Em All to ...and Justice for All kicked ass. As far as hard rock went, I liked Load to S&M.

The only album I haven't liked is St. Anger. My best friend (who is also a Met fan) were really disappointed with this album. They said they were trying to get back to their roots, but they failed horribly.

i wouldnt say Shakira whoever she may be, or may TRY to be... has nice tits or a nice ass, just another nameless face in a sea of pulped crap (is she the one with the scrawky voice? getting TV adverts in the UK?)

a_greer has summed up some of my feelings, but to add on the count of AC/DC being garbage, they like jazzers do their stuff LIVE, they dont like compressors never mind filters! the recording chain is something like fingers-guitar-amp-mic-mixer-recording medium-2Track master.

Madeleine Peyroux, now THERES someone i could listen to for a good long while, looking at tits and ass optional!

lots of good stuff on iTunes lots of crap too!

but one thing i wonder why are albums like (rainbow rising) missing some of the songs that ARE on the CDs? iTunes was the cheapest option for owning that (and a few other albums) but because songs were missing... they lost the sale, love an answer to that one.

That album made my ears bleed. Terrible terrible terrible.

"Going back to their roots" would mean they should go back to being a dont-give-a-rats-ass, drunk bunch of metal freaks.

I still think rehab simply ruined Hetfield. Some people are meant to be sober, metal gods aren't. If you watch their recent "making of", they're surrounded 24/7 by a bunch of yes-men personal counselors. No wonder St. Anger sounded like ass.

Hmm. I'm not sure, but I see where you're coming from. Half of St. Anger was made before James' rehab, and the other half after. (Although, I can see why he moght want to sober up a little, having a kid and all).

I think he has three kids. They are working on a new album with a new producer and a new bassist. Bob Rock handled the bass while making St. Anger. They should ditch the melody, increase the speed, include leads, and James needs to not use his daily journal for lyric inspiration.

In the "Some Kind of Monster" movie/documentary Lars said something to the effect of "Lets not do leads because that is what the trend is these days", but in "Damage Inc." James sings "Following our instinct, not a trend. No one gets a grade until the end." I am not looking for another "Master of Puppets" but I would like an album that sounds like they enjoyed making it. While I like at least half the songs on St. Anger it does not sound natural, but more like "I was in therapy and these are the feelings that were making me drink and be selfish, but now I am healed."

and welcome home from puppets wasnt? ok minus the HEALED bit.

almost all the lyrics on the early "good" stuff are directly about heatfields head.

personally i thought St Anger was pretty good, its just the production that sucked MAJOR ass.

I do not doubt that but I think the difference between the early stuff and St. Anger is that with St. Anger, James was conscious of the reasons he felt the way he did, and for the most part, had dealt with them, but with the earlier stuff he just expressed his feelings.

true, but then no-ones writing the SAME stuff 20 years later... well king Crimson might .. but thats all different players for the most part.

Alan Hulls "pipedream" album is amazing for instance, but "squire" is dire IMO of course. suppose it follows that we ALL have one book in us, but we arnt all able to reproduce the same thing over and over... even miles davis had off days
