10.4 & ram

Just curious, Ive read that it is a 64bit OS which can utilize more than 4GB's of ram. Right now I have 4 gb of ram installed on my dual core G5 2.3 and I can have uptp 16GB installed on it, I am contemplating on adding another 2gb's, would it do me any good, I mainly work in PS editing and designing fairly large files, and do some occasional 3d rendering, no video yet as I do not have a dig video camera. I know most apps are not or do not have addressable memory for over 2gb's but am wondering mainly about the OS and its performance. Right now performance is great, but Im just curious as to what 2 more gigs would do...

Suggestions, thoughts?

You could search for an utility that displays how much RAM is used (realtime). Check out how often more than 4gb is used; if this happens a lot, 2 gb can help, but personally I think it's not worth the cash unless you have several memory hungry apps open all the time.

I think if performance is great no need to spend more money! 2GB would probably do nothing!

You can try this little utility. It has not been update in a while, but it may be still useful.
