Hi,



Frank and I have a podcast & vidcast in which we take an operating system to the test ( Ubuntu Linux, Gentoo Linux, Fedora Core, OpenBSD, PCLinuxOS and SUSE Linux have been reviewed ). Our latest review was 10.4.7. and is to be found via iTunes or via www.systemtrash.com

    ffmpegx is good for deinterlacing. I've tried Quicktime's and Final Cut's and I still got those horrible lines. ffmpegX's options worked fine every time. If you are making mp4, I'd use isquint with deinterlace checked in the advanced panel. ffmpegx doesn't make good mp4.



    In summary:



    AVI -> ffmpegx with deinterlace in options

    MP4 -> isquint, deinterlace in advanced (H264 is better but takes 2x longer)
