G5 iMac shutting itself down randomly
My wife's G5 20" iMac, almost exactly a year old, has started shutting itself down randomly, sometimes in the middle of being used. I've updated the software and tried adjusting the sleep settings (it seems that it starts back up too quickly to really have been "shut down", although the sequence is the same as a regular restart), but have no idea if this is a hardware or software problem. Any ideas?
Comments
Also, when you say shutdown, so you mean actually go through an actual shutdown and it just loses power. If the latter, the system log won't show much, but it means it is a hardware problem.

I talked to the guy at the Apple Store where I bought it, and he said it sounded like it might be a power supply problem. It's still under warranty and could be fixed for no charge, but they're backed up 2 weeks, and we'd be without a machine for my wife until then...so if it looks like it's a software problem or a glitch, that would save us some time.
