Writing AppleScript plugins for Gmail Notifier

Does anyone have any experience with writing AppleScript (or even objective-C) plugins for the Gmail Notifier? I really want to be able to tell GN to ignore emails with a specific tag (mailing lists basically). Unfortunately I've never used AppleScript, I can't find any real useful information on the GN and scripting.
