Hi, Just about to purchase a macbook and a 23 inch hd apple display. Just wondering if anyone is running a similar system and how its working? Is it worth dishing out the extra money for the 23 inch instead of the 20 inch?

Thanks,

Coillaodh

Screen size is like memory and HD space: you can never have too much of it. If you can afford the 23 inch model then that is certainly what you should get.

I have a 19? CRT AccuSync 90 NEC monitor and it?s great... but it is also old technology and I feel envious whenever I visit an Apple store or friends whom have big flat screen monitors... so, I?m looking to trade up.

The recent price reductions in the cinema display line and the new Mac Pro suggest strongly that new Apple displays are coming. If I had to buy today, even with their price reductions I would not get an Apple monitor; I think the hp L2335 is a better value. It got rave reviews from Macworld, it is cheaper than Apple?s 23? model and it can pivot from landscape to portrait orientation.

Even Dell has a 23? model that is much cheaper than Apple?s offering though I don?t think it is quite as good. If I were you I would wait till the end of the year to see what happens next (newer models, price reductions from competitors). If you can?t wait, I?d get the HP.

There have been other individual reviews since this one... but you might want to read it nonetheless.
