5G 30GB iPod Video dead?

My brand spanking new 5G iPod now is not functioning.



It was turned on and I was futzing with a new case that I had just purchased.



Then I look back - and the screen is blank.



I press menu - nothing happens. Hold down menu - nothing. Hold down other buttons - nothing.



Plug into mac - does not recognize - screen still blank.



Hold key is not on.



Help. Please. Thanks.

    if it is brand new you can probably exchange it if it came faulty. it must be under warranty.



    also, check your USB cable, it might be not charging your ipod. try someone else's cable or just take it to an apple store.

    I brought it into the Genius Bar - they confirmed that it was dead. They didn't give me a cause. Wouldn't work at all for them.



    They told me to bring everything back in the box and exchange it for a new one.



    Since if I did it under warranty - I might get a refurbished and not a new one.
