I noticed for instance, on the Mac Pro (edu), you can choose to have Aperture preinstalled for $150. This is the same as the box order. Isn't it stupid to get the preinstall, because all you get is the DVD media with no box, physical documentation etc? I mean... would if you want to sell it? The physical version is also $150. Why would anybody pre-install then?

What makes you think you wouldn't get the same box?

I ordered iWork pre-installed with my MacBook and it came with physical documentation and a install dvd. The only thing it was missing was the iWork box. They give you little stickers with the product number. If I'm thinking correctly that is all the physical documentation needed.
