External hard drive not recognized

My relatively new western digital external hard drive is not being recognized by my macbook. It does not show up when I connect it through the usb cable.



I connected it to my pc and it worked fine, so it's not the hard drive.



I've also connected it using both usb ports, and nothing.



I'm not sure how to fix this.

    I have the same problem. A firewire would do the job better than USB. If you have no firewire, I suggest you power up the HD using an AC power adaptor.
