Ive got a 'small query'.

Very soon I shall be purchasing a 3GHz, 4GB RAM, X1900 XT Mac Pro with Final Cut HD.

Why oh why is 4GB of RAM more than 3 times the cost of 2GB of RAM ?

2GB = £200.01

4GB = £740.00

Whats going on there ?

Im spending a truck load of cash on my computer alread (£4500) why do I have to be ripped off ?

    You can buy the RAM from third parties.

    OK, I suspect this is a wind-up but I'll bite anyway.

    1GB is included, so when you ask for 2GB you pay for an extra 1GB.

    When you ask for 4, you pay for an extra 3.

    So, you're paying for three times as much RAM.

    Nor do they appear to be something you can actually buy.

    It doesn't matter what the price is if they can't supply!

    Or, doesn't this thread belong in Current Hardware and have a proper title instead of "..." ?

    Thee difference is simple, the 1 to 2 GB jump adds more 512 MB modules. The 4 GB upgrade uses 1 GB modules, so the price per DIMM jumps. Notice that Crucial isn't listing 1 GB DIMMs yet.
