DVD --> Toast --> SuperDrive?

If I make a toast image of a DVD and then burn that toast image will the DVD work perfectly like the original or do I have to rip it and then do crazy conversions. If anyone can give some insight I'd love to hear it...also if I have to rip it, anyone know some good ripping software?
