Hey,

I was looking at airport express' and they look like a great piece of kit, but i wondered if there were any cheaper alternatives? I dont really need a long wifi range but the features it has look like they could be really useful...

yeah thats the thing, i havn't seen any but not too fond of needing to spend £90.00 on one either, bit of a rip off for what is really a simple router with a few extra features... any ideas anyone?

As far as I know, any wireless router will work with Apple's machines.

yeah they all should do, but they dont have the speaker out features like airport express. Perhaps i'm gunna have to bite the bullet, would save me from needing to plug + unplug the speakers to/from my laptop all the time.

There may be others that stream music, but the Airport Express is the only one that will do it from within iTunes ... you're getting a $60 router, and paying another $60 for the AirTunes and USB functions.

Is it worth it ?... only you can answer that.
