A small notepad

in iPod + iTunes + AppleTV edited January 2014
I wonder if a small note pad is required, or if I can do this with my iPod: I want the means of carrying the OED around with me to check for word definitions. If the iPod doesn't have software to buy that can do this what small, cheap organiser or even deciated machine could any of you suggest. I guess a Palm would be overkill.
