When i was looking over monitors recently, i noticed that a lof of LCDs were now 24inches (like the imac).. will we see the 23 inch monitor replaced by a 24?
not so soon, we will see redesigned Mac Pro as well as Cinema Displays, probably MWSF 2007
New displays? I think they'll appear this year.
What would I want from the new displays? Thinner, lighter, same aluminum, iSight's, 20",24" and 32", IR sensor and.. like the iMac's.. bottom-hidden speakers.
It's possible we'll see new displays on Tuesday, "It's Showtime" could mean video viewing experience, which would be great on a 30" Cinema Display. Just rampet speculation on my part.

Mark my words, within the next 2 years Apple WILL make a TV. Weather they team up with Sony, or do it completely by themselves, there will be a REAL TV on the market by Christmas 2008 with an Apple logo on it.
So I don't think they'll be bringing out those new displays tomorrow.

Why would they make a TV? If they do anything remotely like a TV my guess is it'll be something like a 30" (possibly larger) iMac thats wall mountable with a HDTV tuner in it. Apple's whole deal is style, funcationality, design, and simplicity. Resolution independence would help something like this out, but a regular Apple HDTV dosn't make sesne.

I wouldn't expect fully redesigned Mac Pro systems for at least a year. The current units with all their expansion options are what Pros have been asking for for years!
Displays, however, are another story altogether. Here Apple is catering to different audiences but I'd guess that the Pro user with a single large screen is the primary target. With that in mind, I'd expect to see updated displays with remotes and isights and perhaps even speakers. They could wait a year like Apple did with the lucite displays or these could launch sooner.

I disagree. People don't want to work from their couch, and Apple would never sell something that was meant to be wall mountable as standard. if they get in to the TV space, which I've already established that I think they will anyway, they'll want to do it properly. Dell makes TV's.
What would a proper TV from Apple be like?
Well for a start I think it would most definitely be "Black". The iMac is white, it's a computer. You sit up at it and work. Watching TV, and using a computer is an entirely different experience. So for that reason, and for practical reasons, it would be balck.
It would have a great built-in sound system. The 24" iMac has a 24Watt amplifier, but the New Panny Viera, widely regarded as one of the best TV on the market today, also has 24Watt amp. The iPod Hi-Fi, uses no audio tricks, it pushes air, apple was very clear about this, and because of their close ties to pixar they know about movies. These things are important to Apple. If they enter a market which they haven't been in before, which they are doing alot of lately. They will do it again tomorrow, and with the iPhone.
It will come in two or three sizes, 32", 42" & 50".
It will include the new Airport device that may launch tomorrow, inside.
It will come bundled with Front Row 3.0 & the Apple TV-Remote®.
My dream TV, would be an Black Apple TV, with all that shit I mentioned built-in.
And for one more brilliant Apple-like touch, the Apple TV-Remote® that's attaches magnetically to the side of the TV like the iMac. When you remove the remote, the TV comes on automatically, and when you put back the remote on the side of the TV, the TV turns off automatically.
(optionally you can turn off the TV with the remote if you like)
First of all, let me point out that you have no idea what Apple is going to come out with on Tuesday (still two days for my EST) so you can't say Apple will release an iPhone or Airport device.

Who said it would have to be standard? The 24" iMac has a VESA mount opiton. If I wanted to I could go mount the thing in my living room and work from the couch -- I won't, but I would be able to.

I do like the idea about the remote, that is a clever Apple-like feature that is kind of cool.

Just because Dell sells TVs and you bought a domain does it mean Apple should jump in the ring. I just don't think it makes business sense to sell TVs -- for the reasons I put in my post above. But hey, neither of us know for sure what Apple will do in the future so we'll agree to disagree.

None of us know for sure, but I just feel they will. I feel it pretty strongly too. And without knowing for sure, that's all I've got.

Very cute idea, but practically speaking, it seems a little too much thought put into something that probably won't be used except on cleaning days, or when company's come. I haven't sat nearer than six feet from a TV in 20 years and my remote stays near me. To get up and go get the remote would almost never happen for me, or anyone I know. The idea is great, but it seems extra engineering for something that would only be used once in a blue moon. Cool idea, though.

True for you but not for all. You miss one of the main things it solves, besides that fact that it's Apple, fun, cool and handy. It solves losing the remote. If you liked the idea, and used it. Then you will never misplace your remote ever again!

All I can say is that I want one.
