Basically there are two ways to install X11 and other dev tools
later on.
1.
Insert the Installer DVD and just trigger the "normal"
installation. Pick up the parts you want to install, when the
dialog asks you. You just want to pick up the dev tools, namely X11.
AFAIK you can't uncheck "Install base system".
I find that very scary. Hence i recommand the 2. method.
2.
The X11.pkg file is on your Mac OS X installer DVD and CD respectively.
I am not sure, if the .pkg file is visible on the installer dvd
or if it is not. It is a long time ago i had to deal with that.
If the X11.pkg file is unvisible on the DVD,
you have to perform a search for "X11.pkg" on the installer
DVD first. Do set the search criteria to "find unvisible",
in order to get access to that particular file.
The search result folder shows you the propriate folder/files
you want to get access to. Just drag/copy the X11.pkg file
onto your desktop, double click and go ahead.
Of course "Kuku" is right, you can manually download
X11.app from Apples servers, too.
cheers
