Im a bit confused right now....whether or not to buy a Macbook now, or wait until they are supposedly going to release the Core 2 Duos. Is Apple going to charge more for Core2s? or are they going to get rid of the Core Duos and replace them with 2s? Please post...

Core 2 Duos seem to be coming in at the same price as Core Duos. However, there doesn't seem to be all that many performance advantages from what I've seen so far. I certainly wouldn't hold out for Core 2 Duo. If they reduced the prices like they did with the iMac and Mini then yes but not for the prospect of getting Core 2 Duo at the same price.

Given that according to AppleInsider, Apple has received large quantities of Core 2 Duo chips:

I'd say that an update before the holidays is quite likely but you never know. If they do what they did with the Mini, then you might get a 2GHz+ Core 2 Duo for the price of a 1.83 Core Duo. As always, an update will come eventually, it just depends on how long you are willing to wait.

I know a guy who got an Intel Core Duo iMac and the Core 2 Duo was released the following week. The Core 2 Duos were slightly faster clock speeds but overall, near enough the same so he wasn't disappointed at all.

We actually have no idea if the Macbooks will even get Core2Duos, do we? Apple updates every 6-8 months, while Intel does every 2-4, so maybe the next Macbooks will have the next update. It's already about 2-3 weeks since Intel bumped it up, so apple could wait 1 1/2 months, announce, and then ship a week later...

If you need a new computer now, buy it. If not, wait until you really need it.

And above all : DON'T COME TO RUMOR SITES IF YOU"RE THINKING ABOUT BUYING A COMPUTER. the next one you buy will be at 14.32 Ghz Core Quinto MACBM made by Micropear.

I expect the Macbook's to get updated way after the Macbook Pro's, which hopefully is tommorrow, because the Macbook are way back-ordered and they're also having all those problems with the Macbook's randomly turning off and stuff. My friend down the dorm hall sent his Blackbook in 1 1/2 weeks ago and still hasn't gotten it back...

Also, I think Apple wants to focus on the Pro lines as it's a professional photography event and all that jazz

6/8 month apple timeline is ridiculous. This is different, this is merely a processor change, this isnt anything legendary. Only reason its going to be talked about at photokina is because of a whole macbook pro overhaul, not because of c2d being spectacular. they'll both be updated tommorow, macbooks behind the scenes as with the imacs while mbps with fanfare at photokina. Apple is not going to sit on its laurels while its competition has newer technology in their computers. Not at a time so critical to them. They've got something like 15% of notebooks sales apparently. They're not just going to sit there and ignore merom. Especially for a product that sells as well as the macbooks, they'd want to keep the momentum.
