LaserJet 1012 owners- is it noisy when printing?

Looking to pick up a used LaserJet 1012. Read many good things about it.

Only problem is that I checked out a LaserJet 1018/1020 at local Staples and it's kind of noisy when printing (dead silent when idle). Since these are the apparent successors to the 1012, I'm wondering if the noise level is the same or hopefully quieter on the older LaserJet.

thanks.

I have a 1012 and isn't very loud at all. I also have a Konica Minolta 2430DL which is pretty loud, so I might be comparing it to that.

Silence for a low level will be difficult to find. I can't here it from the the next room over, if that helps.

I just bought a 1020 for a friend and it was the same noise wise.

I love the 1012 though, I also think the page per toner cartridge are really under rated, it seemed like I printer 5000 pages with the last one.

    Great. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, it's only 6.2 dB on their spec sheet. Maybe it's just getting used to near silence in a home office environment.

I doubt it's 6.2 dB... 6.2 Bells is more like it.
