I downloaded a movie as a 2 part avi file, I was wondering how to merge the 2 files together, so I can convert it as 1 file and then put it on my ipod. Thanks.
You have to read through the Help file, and a lot of your success depends on what type of file is inside the .avi wrapper. Squared5 has a forum that you can get help with the StreamClip application.
If you have QuickTime Pro, you can try and see if it will load the files. If so, it's just a matter of copy and paste the second one onto the end of the first one.
Also, if the files are DivX inside the .avi wrapper, you may want to use DivX Doctor ( http://www.3ivx.com/divxdoctor/ )to tweak them first (keep a copy of the original).
I use d-vision for that too. It's always worked reliably for me. I also use that for splitting sometimes if I don't want to limit it to a .mov container.
I really wish Quicktime would implement some open source tools like mpeg mux/demux, ac3 audio support by default, file splitting/joining and saving as avi. In fact, they should just open source it and then it might become standard across Windows, Linux and Mac.

Edit: and then for the iPod, iSquint seems to be the app to use. http://www.techspansion.com
