Next year at an unspecified month may be a long wait if you need the storage now. I think the drive manufacturers promised 20GB microdrives by the beginning of this year and I haven't seen them yet.
Yeah those other drives sound cool, but when will they really be out and how much will the cost? Fancy new technology has a habit of costing many times what current technology costs.
Remember that as density increases so does seek time. If speed isn't a concern than go with a 4200 RPM 200gig, or a 5400 (when it becomes available). Just keep in mind that even the 5400RPM one will be slower than your current 5400RPM 60gig drive.

Why would a 200GB notebook hard drive be slower than a 60GB notebook hard drive of the same RPM?
Even with the one that's down an RPM bracket should make up for it because it has more than 3x the areal density.
I was always told that since more data fits on the same physical space, it takes looker to find it since it is smaller. Like finding a bowling ball in a hay stack versus a needle ... lol .
I might be wrong, but I always thought higher density drives always had much longer seek times.
The seek times might be a little higher, but seek times are only part of the situation. In every test I've ever seen, a larger drive is faster than a smaller drive of the same brand, type and RPM.

Hi do you guys know of any 200gig harddrives that would work well in a macbook. The 60gig that came with my macbook is no where near enough.

Too bad the OWC drive is such a slow hard drive at 4200rpm. I wouldn't touch it.
That's the largest there is for now. It's probably a lot faster than what's included with the MacBook right now.

Kinda like a dvd versus a cd. A little scratch on a DVD will effect more data then on a CD.
