I can't find an accounting package that is compatible with Mac software and supports the Canadian Payroll system at the same time. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks

I don't know about payroll support but the most popular packages tend to be MYOB or Quickbooks:

    http://quickbooks.intuit.com

But they both get bad ratings for various reasons.

Thanks for the information. I tried Quickbooks already but they aren't compatible with a MAC. I haven't tried MYOB, but I will. Thanks again!

    How do you mean compatible?

Wow! thanks. I didn't know that quickbooks was compatible with a MAC. by compatible i mean that it will run on Mac software.

But that link that you sent me, is it the U.S. version?

Yeah i think so. From reading the reviews, Quickbooks doesn't seem to work well with multiple currencies:

Go with MYOB. Both have trials but I was recently looking for the best Mac accounting software and mostly MYOB got the better rating even though neither are supposedly great.

If you have an Intel Mac, you can always get Parallels and then you get the choice of all the Windows accounting software.

MYOB sold out its users and abandoned the Canadian market to Intuit years ago.

    We've had little choice since.

The US Quickbooks package can account for Canadian PST and GST. I've never looked into the Payroll situation, but I believe there are third party add-ons for Canada.

The MYOB based software Intuit was supporting has been discontinued. Avoid MYOB like the plague.

Recognizing the situation up here, Apple is hosting some events that showcase the MoneyWorks Accounting package. Depending where you are in Canada, you may be able to attend the free events (which roll through Toronto next week.)

Go to Apple.ca, choose Hot News, then Seminars and Events, then search on Events by Province.

In that case I agree, avoid MYOB. It seems version 11 supported it but not beyond.

Here's a list of some Mac accounting software with some reviews:
