Since it is an inactive ship (a museum) and it has stayed put for more than 20 years, I can't see why people are saying it "got stuck in the mud", as if it were an active warship that someone grounded by accident.

The mud accumulated around it over decades. Big difference.

As a former tug captain, I could see that they were just throwing mud INTO the carrier. They should be up close and flushing the mud away! Gummint work?

My dad worked on the Intrepid during his 4 years in the navy - it was pretty cool to go visit it when I was there - I had spent a long time reading about it as a child (and playing with his uniform and stuff). He was a "guided missleman", which is the hardest job in the whole navy according to the video I watched during the tour.
