More Leopard screenies for the masses!!
Here they are.
This is definitely my favorite:
(Posting of images that are under non-disclosure is against AI's posting guidelines - image deleted - JL) Just as well they weren't mine eh??
"Apple is making good headway with converting UI to HiDPI (Resolution Independent)
In the new build Apple is allowing developers to access new UI elements, all the new UI is in HiDPI, which will allow the UI to increase in resolution without losing quality."
The only parts in this image that are not "Resolution Independent" supported as of now are the up and down arrows on the drop-down menu buttons, but one step at a time eh?
Try zooming in on the colored "close", "minimize" and "zoom" buttons on this Safari or Firefox window with your Mighty mouse's "scrollball+ctrl" to see the difference between them and the buttons in this image, so cool!

By the way, I strongly suspect these snapshots were grabbed from this thread, which preceded the "World of Apple" article by some time.
Ironically, it's a Vista dev message board that has the best inside scoop.

Why's that? They just haven't completely vectorized all elements, that's why it doesn't look entirely polished.

Because there's not even alpha layer blending, and some of the buttons aren't aligned.

What do you mean by the alpha layer bit? And of course there are going to be some alignment issues at first, since now distances between buttons etc have to be dictated as ratios and percentages instead of pixels.
I love how they have a Leopard section on a Windows forum. More interesting is how all the Windows folk love it and want to buy a Mac
Really? I love how the apple forums are so into windows! They just ALL love bootcamp. [treble clef] I wanna hold you. I wanna kiss you.
Poor me, I can't get bootcamp to work on mine. It do crash like crazy it do.

That's actually pretty similar to how it looks in Tiger. Although, those new buttons are a little strange looking.

ummm, maybe that's because they aren't finished, aka work in progress. i believe the point of developing something is so that it looks and works right.
BTW, nay-saying something the second it comes out is, while to be expected, incredibly stupid. It retarded to jump forward and have the first review (if even) of something new be saying that its looks false and is probably untrue. What is so horrible about something new that we haven't seen before?
Also, on the topic on Windows users, have you ever noticed that if you show someone a how to use a Mac and all it's benefits, they either love it or they diss it ( they scoff and totally say whatever they can to try to convince themselves that it's really not that good), and, either way, you'll always catch them salivating over the shiny-ness of the computer you showed them. the moral of this story: they can hate the OS, they can love the OS, but it's always the design that wins them over.
