External Monitor Resolution with PowerBook

I've got a 12" Powerbook, 1.33 GHZ, that I'd like to drive an external monitor with. From what I've been able to find with Apple documentation, it should be able to drive up to 1280 x 1024. I'm looking at a Samsung monitor with 1440 x 900 resolution. Would this work? Would it just have black bar "dead space" around the image, or would I be able to make it fill the screen? The Samsung is model 941BW: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...dlist=dealnews

Thanks!

Well, I got a 19" monitor with a 1440 x 900 resolution, and the PowerBook won't push it full screen at that resolution. So I guess the answer was actually no. I have to run it at 1024 x 640 to fill the screen at the right aspect ratio. I'm glad I bought it at CostCo so I can take it back.

It's not the mac that is holding it back exactly. I don't have the time right now, but there is a free download available to handle "non-standard" video.

Thanks for the help! I'll do some more looking around, and if anyone else knows anything about this, please let me know.

This is the program I was thinking about (displayconfigX), but I'm not sure if it works on all Intel machines. It's also not free, but it might be worth it. The developer's link is below, but you can also get it on macupdate.com.
