iMac / Core 2 Duo RAM configurations
Can someone please explain the 3GB RAM limitation on the iMac for me?
From what I can find, the iMac has 2 ram slots. The base configurations come with 2 512Mb DIMMs, but the slots will accepts 1GB or 2GB DIMMs.
To get 3Gb, I guess I would need 1 1Gb DIMM and 1 2Gb DIMM, right?
So, why can't I put 2 2Gb DIMMs in the machine and get 4Gb of RAM? Is there some hardware limitation preventing this? If so....Ugh.
