Apple OTB (Order To Build) MacTower kit

Just a random idea here, an Apple OTB "MacTower" configuration.

They could sell a kit you can buy and build yourself. The kit could be as simple as an Apple Conroe system board and a set of OSX/App Install DVD's, maybe also video card options. They could sell it and make a nice premium and do little work. Inventory would be easy to manage/update, and cheap to ship.

All the other parts (case/ps,proc,ram,hdd,dvd,vid?) you buy yourself and build the system you want. Since Apple would make the system board they wouldn't have to worry about people using flaky hardware since you would be limited to the same hardware choices as other Apple computers. It wouldn't hurt MacPro sales much because it is only a single Conroe system and I bet a lot of the sales would come from people who wouldn't have otherwise tried OSX.

You will have to have it come with a video card as there are very few out there with Apple EFI roms on them.

It's not likely to happen. Apple hasn't had a build your own since the Apple I. Not only that, the sort of system you suggest isn't offered by any major computer manufacturer, unless maybe you call Fry's or Newegg a major computer manufacturer.
