iPhoto : delete photo from database ?

When you delete a photo from iPhoto, I believe the photo is still stored in its' database [~/pictures/iphoto library]



how do I make sure it's not taking up space by deleting permanently the files I decided I don't want to keep from iPhoto?

    Have you tested this? I just tested by searching for a file in the iPhoto Library, then deleting it in iPhoto. Afterwards the file was not anywhere to be found (not even in the trash. Then I looked at the size of the iPhoto Library and deleted another (2.4 Mb) photo. The size of the iPhoto Library shrank by about 2.4 Mb. It seems to me that they are really gone.
