Help with music clips

I use a program on my pc to convert wav to mp3s so i can send them to my cell phone and use them as ringtones. I use the sound recorder in the pc to cut/edit the song to my liking. Is there a way to do that on the Macs? Not only a program to cut the song, but also to convert them from wavs to mp3s? Thanks in advance.

    Should be able to use Garageband if the iLife came with your mac.. Check your documentation. If all else fails, try versiontracker.com to search for such software.
