Techno creation

I'm looking for software to create techno sounds. Most software I see is to put sounds together...i need to make the sounds first. Does anyone know of any good freeware or software i can try out before i buy?

    yeah, go check the REASON demo. it's interface may look scary at first, but it is really the most awesome application I've ever tried (I admit I'm not a very experienced sound-app tester ). It is abolutely brilliant software for it's price, and you don't have to make your own sounds first. They are either realtime-generated from the SubTRACTOR or Malström synths, or you can choose samples from the 1GB+ sound bank that is included.



    Price? $299 if I'm not mistaken.

    Reason rocks HARD. Some of the coolest software I've ever used. I got the demo last night and now I'm probably going to buy it later this week. Supercool.
