Apologies if this has been discussed previously... i'm guessing it may have.

Could anyone offer some advice regarding how to watch digital cable (telewest) on a Mac?

I live in an area with zero freeview coverage and the only way I can watch tv is through my cable supplier. I've looked in detail at the Elgato site and their only solution is to go through a digital to analogue then back to digital conversion.... which sounds pap.

Is it possible to hook up a digital cable box and a Mac via a digital sender? Is this a solution?

Ideally it would be great to record onto the Mac hard drive or NAS, but i'm not that bothered about this functionality...

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hi I've been trying to get the EyeTV 610 working over here but the first thing i noticed is that is has different physical cable connectors. Then when you trying to configure the channels, it says that the hardware cannot be used in the United States. BUMMER!!! It cost me almost $800 bucks to get it here as I had to get a friend in London to buy it and ship it for me. I tried to wire it up and configure the channels and plug in a "Cable Card" but it doesnt even detect a signal. It's a shame that Elgato hasnt come up with a solution for SUBSCRIBED digital cable in the USA. All tehy had was the EyeTV 500 which allows you to watch clear/free digital cable. MTV is not free!!!

Hope I was a little helpful.
