Is there a definitive list of what Apple has done for the computer industry? I would love to be able to refer to more than my own pontificating when trying to sway the unwashed.
It's hard to define what stuff major companies come up with because they buy up smaller companies and sell the product under their name so their R&D may not have produced it.
I think that it would be safe to consider Next in there too given that Steve Jobs founded the company and the OS later transformed into OS X:
"one man's attempt to advance the industry on to a new and higher standard of personal computing just when the pace of innovation was slowing after the heady 1980s. The fact is that in 1990, the NeXT Computer was already offering much of what we take for granted on computers today."
That's real innovation, changing the world because you want to, not because you just want to make money.
