Cant disconnect external hard drive

It wont let me disconnect my external hard drive from my mac because I delete a folder that was in the hard drive. When I try emptying my Trash Bin it says its complete but its still showing it in there, and still continues to no disconnect my external HD. Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks.

Restart the computer and try again.



If that doesn't work, use Disk Utility to repair permissions on both drives then try again.
