How do I get to /var/log/ in finder?

I can get there no worries in Terminal... but can't seem to get there in Finder. My mate has on his comp, he has a softly shaded Private foler that he can get there thru, but I can't even find this Private folder.

Is there something I am overlooking? I tried the finder preferences, but couldn't see anything there that would help me out.

Thanks.

    Alternately you can use the 'open' command in Terminal. So

    Code:

    $ open /var/log

    will open up /var/log in the Finder.

    You could also use TinkerTool to display all the hidden folders and folders on the hard drive, although if it's just for one file, you might as well use one of the above suggestions.
