Help, damaged new Macbook Pro
Help! I recently bought a new macbook pro when as i was carrying it in my bag the zip broke and it slid out hitting the pavement. Luckily it still works (as i am using it now) and the damage is relativly small. The only worrying thing is that there is a dent in the bottom case in the corner by the battery port. This dent has caused the corner to push up slightly, and the case to stick out. Though it is only minor I would appreciate any input on the cheapest and easiest way of fixing the dent without causing more damage.
Thanks

I did the same thing on a G4 Ti book. I found no simple repair and over time the stress from the hinge nearby caused the crack to travel. Eventually a piece of the top case came off and I had to put some tape over it to keep crud out of the internals. last week I finally replaced the case with one that I got off eBay--not easy or particularly cheep.
Anyway, I dont know if this is any help as the MBP might be of a different design, but since you had not responses yet, I thought I would toss in my $.02.
On the Ti book, the bottom case is a nearly flat sheet that covers the bottom. It is cheep and easy to replace.
The top case, on the other hand, is not cheep and includes all the slots on the sides (optical drive, pc card, AC charger) as well as the trackpad and power button and such on top. It holds all sorts of electronics and the frame and is a real pain to replace (dozens of tiny screws) and tons of connectors.
Regardless, this may be of no help as I don't have the same model. I just know that what I thought might be simple "replace the case" job turned into a harrowing project (for me) that I put off until my computer was near death...
Good Luck
