I have a PB G4. The other day I noticed what appears to be a split on the main part of the adapter and another a little farther down on the cord. You can see the wire. I see on the web site that it would be 3-4 weeks for delivery. I am worried and don't know what to do. I need the adapter. Does anyone know what I can do? I appreciate any help.

A split in the wire casing/insulationn isn't important, but it might lead to a larger break, and that is NOT GOOD. Trust me, going w/o a power adapter is not fun.

    AVOID IT WITH THESE STEPS:

    There are a few solutions:

    1) If you have Applecare, then give apple tech support a call and you can probably get everything worked out with a box containg a new adapter at your door in a week or so.

    2) If you don't, there are third party solutions. A good source for these is OtherWorldComputing.

OWC has very good turn around times for shipping, and I have not had any problems with any of their products.

    3) Order another one from apple, dish out $100, and wait until it gets there.

My personal advice: go with a third party adapter. they are cheaper if you don't have Applecare, and are generally problem free. Also, some of them, although clunkier, have longer cords than the standard adapter, a feature which you might find useful.

    good luck!
