That would be cool.

A morphing of the Apple Remote into the Apple Phone.

    Good argument.

    Counterpoint :

    One device controls:

1- Music. with the bulit- in ipod.

    2- Phone

    3- Media center.

What else do you need ?

Get home, point your Phone to the iTV and presto !

Or even better and easier: Bluetooth.

    I agree, pointless.

    Excellent argument

Bluetooth doesn't control Front Row. Bluettoh doesn't control anything on the Mac.

It allows for syncing and that's a given fact the iPhone will do...

And since the control pad on the Mac Phone will be some kind of touchscreen it would be great to control Front Row.

    merry Xmas !

But it certainly could. Just look at sailing clicker for instance, it really rocks with all the possibilities it has. IR in the remote had probably something to do with energy usage, which really isnt that big a blocker on a phone.

ir in phones is dead. everything that it use to be good for can be done with bluetooth and done better. all it would take is an update and they could make front row work with bluetooth.

I saw an argument about this, something about Bluetooth being Omnidirectional while IR is just point and control. OK I can't remember the exact term that much, but I can remember this:

Imagine an iMac, a Macbook Pro, and an iPod docked into an iPod Hi-Fi sitting on the same desk. With IR you would just point to one of them to control it, but with Bluetooth it would cause Confusion. Same argument here.

IR in a Phone is pointless though. Apple wouldn't bother, no matter what you can dream up with Frontrow and a Macphone.
