Hi all,

The worst thing has just happened to me.

I've just attempted to update an iPod and it's now asking me to connect it to a power adapter... something that I don't have and have left at home, 60 miles away.

I need the iPod to work tomorrow as its integral for another xmas present.

Does anyone know how to bypass this request for connecting it to a power adapter ?

I have attempted to connect it to the PC in several of the USB sockets and still no luck. I reset the iPod several times, still no luck.

I cant get to an adapter at all... so you guys and gals are all I have left.

I hope someone has the answer.

Thanks in advance to all those who attempt to help me...

Take care

Beefy

Unfortunately I live in the UK... so we don't have shops open at this time. Furthermore I'm not near a city but in the middle of no where, so if a shop was open I can't get to it... also, I cant get a hold of anyone with an iPod as I assume they're celebrating xmas eve or having a meal... so all I have is nothing! Still hopeing for a bypass solution

Strange. I live in the UK too, but I haven't had this kind of problem.

You should be able to use any iPod ---> USB cable and it will charge automatically.

If it doesn't, do you have an Altec Lansing speaker unit or something similar for the iPod? That charges the iPod on docking.

Alternatively, you might find someone who has a 4xAAA battery charger to a USB outlet. That connects to your iPod and charges it up. Easy

If you don't have any of those options, then you've been very naughty!

Go ask someone to loan you a Windows computer and connect without synching your iPod and it should charge automatically without asking for power adapter. Check again and leave it in for longer.... any difference?

Some Windows machines (some older Sony laptops, for instance) don't supply power to the USB ports (or FireWire). Stupid, but true.

You might want to try another USB port, and make sure you're not plugging into a self-powered hub or some such. Use a direct port, and try all of them.
