Yesterday was a sad day...

Just curious if anyone had any suggestions as to how I could remedy my situation. Yesterday, I dropped my back pack containing my MBP on the ground. The pack is padded so, I figured there'd be no issue. Upon inspection, I noticed a nickel size dent in the right edge and now my laptop, and now there is a gap between the body of the computer and the screen edge when closed. I can live with a minor cosmetic issue, but the .25" gap could lead to a scratched LCD or more damage that I'd rather prevent from happening. I called my local Apple Store, and they said that a new case replacement would be approx. $400. Any suggestions as to a better solution. Thanks and happy holidays.

hate to sound like an arse, but the easiest solution would certinly be to not drop your 2 thousand dollar computer... When I had a laptop I held onto that thing like my life depended on it. I say buy the new case and be more careful. Consider it a blessing that the computer still works and you aren't dropping another 2k on a new one.

Well even though you hate to, you still do.

No better solution than spring for the new case. It sucks but what options do you have? You can pull dents or bondo.

I would fork out the $400 and add padding to the case. Dropping a notebook is not if, it is a matter of "when". Trust me, I know.
