MacPro RAM question

Yes, I know this has probably been asked a million times before, but I am about to put down alot of money, so bear with me for a few seconds.

I plan on getting another 4 GB for my MacPro, but am unsure how I should place them in the bays.

EG: should it be like this

_________Bay 1____Bay 2___Bay 3___Bay 4

Riser 1: 1 GB -- 1 GB -- 1 GB -- 1 GB

Riser 2: 512 MB -- 512 MB -- (empty) -- (empty)

OR

________Bay 1___Bay 2____Bay 3_____Bay 4

Riser 1: 1 GB -- 1 GB -- 512 MB -- 512 MB

Riser 2: 1 GB -- 1 GB -- (empty) -- (empty)

Thanks, for your help,

Noah

You need to alternate matched pairs between riser boards. Bay1, Bay2, Bay1, Bay 2 etc... The MacPro's user guide has a good description.

    So...

    .............Bay1......Bay 2.......Bay3..........Bay4

    Riser 1: 1 GB -- 1 GB -- 512 MB -- (empty)

    Riser 2: 1 GB -- 1 GB -- 512 MB -- (empty)

Is the proper way to put in the ram?

Because I am kind of lost here...
