That's what I wanted but had to buy the 15 when the MacBooks came out a little under powered.

The advantages of MBP over MB:

PC-Card slot: No way it can fit in a 12 inch, or even a 13 inch, just pop open a Macbook if you dont beleive me.

separate high performance GPU: again, space is the limiting factor here: if they could do a GPU it would be a light weight at best, not nearly able to drive a 30 inch and 13 inch at the same time, hell a 23 inch would be pushing over the line of reasonable usability...

Aluminum inclosure: This is nice, but a black MB is, in the opinions of most, a very handsome and professional look...like the classic G3 type Powerbooks.

I honestly believe that the single most important reason people buy the Black MacBook instead of other models is because of its color. They do not care what is inside of the Mac. All they want is the pretty image before their eyes.

I've owned a Black MacBook and hated it... the case that is... it shows finger prints and oils like crazy and scratches super easy compared to the White version. The black has a coating that is to delicate. I know what you are saying though... thus my dreaming comment

They could fit something better than a Intel IG chipset in a 12 inch laptop. Maybe not an x1600 at full speed, but maybe a 7300 or Geforce GO 7400.

Not even a 7300GO, I'm afraid. ATI and nVidia need to get their bloated asses down to 65nm and 45nm sweet Intel-esque Core2-esque tech.

Have you seen the nVidia 8800??? I think it draws more power than an air-conditioner

Your 800-1000W rated PC with dual-nVidia8800 SLI can probably heat your whole living room or home,

no need to use any heaters in Winter.... ...In Summer you can use a heatsink mod to set up a BBQ plate next to the computer.

I want a MacBook Pro lite edition too.

Metal is so much cooler than plastic. In both temperature and sheer sexiness. Although I currently have a black MacBook, I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a MacBook Pro of similar or smaller size. My laptops are satellite machines to my much more powerful desktops (4 core, 3 hard drive Mac Pro, etc), so I generally want them as small as possible.

The MacBook is essentially an iBook, which was quite literally designed for a student's backpack. Nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't ooze sex appeal like a metal one does.

They've had i and Pro laptops with the same size screen before, with the 12" iBook and PowerBook. Most people moaned and thought the 12" PB was not worth it compared to the 12" iBook, the main differences were the graphics card and aluminium case on the PowerBook.

If the MBP 12" was going to happen, it would have to be a slim (less than an inch) and lightweight (3lb) computer even compared to the MacBook. Take a look at a Sony Vaio TX3 to see what I mean.
